hey feed if i want to make a linux laptop also be a router (probably going to be ubuntu, im just gonna use a live usb) should i try to configure that right on there or can/should i run a router distro in a vm (if yes, recommendations welcome) or what

i also want to be able to run a service that clients can reach if that information is relevant

im asking because i figure there's probably someone around who knows about doing this but also because you know how tryign to find out stuff on the internet is these days lmao

also i have no idea how to actually do this so idk feel free to throw corroborating info at me as i parse web results, if there's anything pertinent i should probably know :blobfox:

@chrisisgr8 I haven't done it before but I know ppl who have used a raspberry pi as a wifi router (relaying horrible student accomodation wifi) and I bet the guides for that (e.g. raspberrypihq.com/how-to-turn-) would mostly work on 'buntu
