re: food, vegetarian
@JennyFluff oh I should really make hummus from scratch again it's so good
re: food, vegetarian
@noiob same but I don't have the spoons for cleaning my kitchen power tools right now
re: food, vegetarian
@JennyFluff my stick blender's front is dishwasher-safe :>
re: food, vegetarian
@noiob ohhh I need that for my next one (this one is slowly dying the hummus curse) ✨
re: food, vegetarian
@JennyFluff I just recently got a dishwasher at all so I've just been very happy about all the stuff I have that is already compatible
re: food, vegetarian
@JennyFluff isn't that just bc they'd bang against stuff? the blade of the blender is inside the head of the blender
re: food, vegetarian
@JennyFluff I think there's no bearings in the shaft, it's very loosely in there and the end clicks into the motor of the upper half. It's an older Bosch but they still sell newer designs with the same principle
I should buy some decent knives tbh
re: food, vegetarian
@noiob
I've been using these for a couple of years (and different models of the same brand):
https://www.ebay.de/itm/276317279576
they are super sharp, they keep being okay sharp with regular honing.
It's adhd and random visitor friendly in the terms of "if you or they fuck up the knife, replacement is cheap"
But yeah, not dishwasher friendly.
re: food, vegetarian
@JennyFluff interesting. hard to argue with that price but I think I'd prefer proper stainless
re: food, vegetarian
@JennyFluff then again for 10€ it might be worth adding one to my knife drawer anyways (yeah I should get one of those magnetic holders or sth)
re: food, vegetarian
@noiob try. I think model 21 has a better overall function as your all-function knife.
Or 171, which is a bit smaller
re: food, vegetarian
@JennyFluff I went for 21, it seemed the closest to a chef's knife which is probably what I want
re: food, vegetarian
@noiob they're sharper than stainless knives
re: food, vegetarian
@noiob
it's one of two things going on - stuff moving inside the dishwasher hitting the blade is bad.
The other thing is the dishwasher detergent which is quite harsh on a bunch of materials, especially any non-stainless steel blades.
I use these awesome cheap thai kiwi knives pretty much exclusively in my kitchen - they're a no-no for dishwasher. I had some of them start rusting on me with handwash on heavy use.
But yeah, stainless blades should be just fine. Possibly a problem could be bearings if they're not (properly) sealed)
