every time I see one of these sofa corners I‘m thinking like, that’s very nice and cute but there has to be some extreme confusion by either management or interior architects about what it is most people do at an office

like, it's nice but also it is basically purely decorative. no one sits there 99.99% of the time. if you got rid of it and used the space you get from that to instead get rid of the cramped open space floor plan and gave people small offices, either single or like 2 or 3 people who work closely together at a time, everyone would be happier and more productive

@halcy I think there might be a certain degree of magical thinking going on. Like, the idea might be that if you put the trappings of a cozy living room in there, people are gonna be more comfortable, even though they'd get yelled at and considered lazy if they actually sat down in this sofa to relax like they would in a living room.

I think the interior designers should push the limit to see how ridiculous it can get before the managers realize you're fucking with them, put a conversation pit in the middle of the office.
