@mcc iirc it hooks into apt to run the update when apt does, same as fwupd, but I currently can't find any documentation on that so I might be making that up

@mcc you can get plugins for kde or gnome's software "store" applications so they'll handle them

also you can just install flathub packages from the command line, you don't have to manually download them
