deltarune chapter 3

it does freak me out that

- there is, in the first two chapters, exactly 1 thing that is different across your save slots. those are different worlds, even though they're so far identical other than whatever's in asriel's drawer
- every time you import a previous chapter's save, it makes an explicit point of telling you that your new file will be created in the same slot. like it makes sure you know it will be in "Save FILE 2"

why does that matter to me. what's going to happen so i need to know my save file

starting in chapter 2 the save dialog allows you to save into any slot, not just the one you're already in. and doing so does actually "move you" to the next slot; you can check asriel's drawer at the begining of the chapter, save in a new slot in the dark world, and it'll be different at the end of the chapter

i've seen suggestions that some secrets are going to be only accessible by solving puzzles across save files, moving kris between worlds so the next step becomes possible. which would be very cool if true

also the pre-completion chapter 1 save menu seems to be narrated by gaster, who says a bunch of weird fucked up shit as you take your actions. like if you almost delete a file 10 times, he says "VERY INTERESTING" for some reason. when you go to copy a file he says "SELECT THE SLOT FOR THE REFLECTION" or something

if you copy one file into all three slots, he says "THE PREPARATIONS ARE COMPLETE"

buddy. what the fuck do you mean

deltarune chapter 3

anyway i was looking at this the whole time i wrote that post

deltarune chapter 3

they have these dust piles in chapter 1!! we just played it yesterday

i guess "the same object in multiple dark worlds is represented by the same thing" but, dust both in your house and in the school are both represented by the same thing in their respective dark worlds

deltarune chapter 3

ralsei just being here with no fanfare freaks me out so much worse than if he had to make a big production out of getting to the new fountain

i forget, did he just show up in the librarby, too? i guess he is the prince of darkness

deltarune chapter 3

ummmmm how did the two of you just know what to do with that eye puzzle

like, yeah, i had to do something like it in chapter 1. but the mechanics were slightly different in a way that it's not immediately intuitable that they won't be this time. but susie and ralsei just snapped into place before i even recognized "oh it's like that puzzle from chapter 1"

deltarune chapter 3

i didn't really look at the screenshots on the eshop or whatever but i did hear about this

here we go. 10 POINTs or whatever

deltarune chapter 3

ralsei really does not want to tell susie that darkners can't exist in the light world, huh

i noticed that in our chapter 2 replay as well, she makes a big show of telling susie "don't worry, everyone will be here soon!" then pulls kris aside and whispers to them to go get everything from the other room

deltarune chapter 3

i don't think this is necessarily nefarious, i think that it could be as simple as "susie is making real friends and forming emotional connections for maybe the first time and he doesn't want to break her heart about the nature of some of the people she's connected to"

deltarune chapter 3

oh this might be the truth coming out now actually

deltarune chapter 3

wtf it's the chair from the sweepstakes... and the movie monster poster on the wall... is this susie's room?

deltarune chapter 3

what if it became even darker

darker than dark

what if we could take away the light that wasn't there
