job hell, subpost I guess?

today, I was upsettingly reminded that even if I might theoretically be able to get a tech job, I likely won't even be able to actually get it due to the likely requirement to be back in an office again

I'll eventually figure something out, but definitely not today

@clarfonthey from what I see tech jobs aren't all back to in-office, luckily. You can probably negotiate something as an accomodation, it's not like it'd change much since from what I can tell most teams do everything online anyways, even if ppl are in-office

@noiob sorry but this is a very naïve and unhelpfully european reply that only serves to frustrate me as now I have to justify my own venting

companies can and will refuse to talk to anyone who doesn't want to work in the office regardless of disability status, and due to the way that anti-discrimination laws work in the US, they can just claim I was an undesirable employee because of my "culture" or whatever instead of because of any disabilities

plus, lack of desire to move isn't a disability

@noiob this is me mostly apologising for lashing out at you

I've just, been very upset about job stuff and my usual coping mechanism is ignoring it. I understand there's a lot of nuance, but everything I've been seeing is that Europe is mostly surviving through this and the US is driving deeper into the ground

I do want to leave eventually, but I have my reasons for not for now, since it's hard
