i was recently talking to a coworker of mine who, to be clear, i like. i think she's one of the stronger programmers on our team, i don't agree with her about everything but i think she's coming from a place of wisdom even when we're having disagreements, overall she's very good at what we do

a while ago i overheard her talking to another one of our other coworkers who was telling her about how he writes programs by, like, splitting them up into steps and then writing each step individually, testing along the way the whole time. constantly he's stopping in the middle of writing code and executing it just to make sure he's getting the values he expects

i.e. totally normal stuff

and she sounded like her mind was blown. like "i need to try that". she's been writing entire programs top to bottom and only basically only running them when she thinks they'll work, and fixing the errors then

i don't know how she does it. how are you good at this
