There was a magnitude 8.8 earthquake near the east coast of Russia and now there are tsunami warnings for some parts of the American west coast.

The primary source for these warnings seems to be tsunami.gov/ and I am surprised that the map on that website is just a plain satellite image - no borders or labels - an has no feature to show the user's GPS location.

I wonder how many of the affected people are able to find their location on the map manually.

Then again, I'm not really surprised.

Germanys maps for flood warnings (not specifically about tsunamis) aren't any better, see for example pegelonline.nlwkn.niedersachse
