thinking about buying "a console" again – I guess if one has a sizable steam library already, the logical way would be to buy a steam deck?

since I know I'm more of a couch gamer anyway: anyone want to share their experience of a steam deck + dock vs. a "proper" console?

@jollysea Most of the time it just works. Using it with an external controller (either 8bitdo bluetooth, or Switch Pro Controller via Mayflash NS) is pretty smooth, but I've found no way to access the quick settings menu (the one that pops up if you press the right "..." button) - normal "STEAM" menu works fine.

Have to get up to push the button to turn it on!

Games seem to be upscaled from 720p to whatever resolution the external TV (FullHD / 4k) - but that might be a settings thing?

@ebrnd @jollysea there's a "wake up via bluetooth device" feature but it works sparingly, at least on my non-OLED

@ebrnd @jollysea oh and the right sidebar should open with xbox+A/PS+X

@noiob @jollysea ahh thanks for that info! (It's home+B for the switch controller because of the different layout)

@ebrnd @jollysea well yeah depending on how you set it up, you can swap a and b

@noiob yah I know, I don't wanna, though - I sometimes game on my PC too, where I have an Xbox controller, so the position is more important than the letters on the buttons to me

@noiob @jollysea oh i forgot: I also have a wireless keyboard (Logitech K400r) with a unifying receiver. SOMEtimes, I can wake up the deck by pressing keys, mainly when it has just gone to sleep on due to timeout. This happens sometimes because I also use it to watch streams (Firefox as "Game" in steam, that's what I need that keyboard for).

Everything is plugged into an Anker 7in1 USB-C hub (7in1 not for the features but because the size fits the nook on the back of the Steamdeck case).
