For those wondering: This is the cursed 3D-Printer.

A leapfrog creatr. I saw it on kleinanzeigen and couldn't resist the trainwreck of mechanical design I saw, and the price was so low, given the THE BALLSCREWS THAT MAKE UP THE Z-AXIS, that I couldn't resist.

It's so bizzare. On the one hand there are such nice components in there. The IGUS drag chain, the FUCKING BALLSCREWS, the nearly fully enclosed chassy.... on the other hand there is a 9x overconstrained Z-axis (which somehow still moves)

@la wait, the three z-screws aren't driven separately? 😩

@noiob those plans require more stepper driver signals.. and some mechanical work.

I'd want to kinematically constrain the axis, rather than having it overconstrained as it currently is, so probably two linear bearings, with specifc flextures to constrain the x/y position as well as the Z rotation. And then build ballscrew mounts that flex to allow for x/y as well as axial missalignment.

And then the mounts for the steppers for that.

And then probably a BTT Octopus board to drive the 7 motors

@noiob and to make use of it, I'd need a bed level probe, and some software (that someone probably has already written)

@la pretty sure Klipper can do three-point bed leveling
