Today I made a successful #repair of some #apple airpods. The batteries were dead and needed replacement.

They are not trivial to open and fix, fortunately #ifixit has a good manual with pictures

TBH, this is the 2nd attempt. In the first I destroyed one when removing glue. This time I found a tool that is well suited for extracting the old batteries.
To hold the AirPods in place during the repair, a piece of foam in a vice worked well.

Related: One can buy those jigs on aliexpress for 10€.

I wonder if I should buy this an fix more airpods. People sell them with dead batteries for about 5€. New batteries are 10€ for a set. So 15€ and 30min of labor for a pair of aipods?

@cccpresser it's a cool thing but keep in mind that airpods are annoying to use if you don't have an iPhone, the newer ones even periodically beep bc they're also airtags and they're always away from their iPhone

@cccpresser so not a great way to get cheap earphones. I recommend looking for cheap pixel buds, especially while they're freebies with a phone purchase, I got a pair of Series A (1) for 40€
