PSA: Anyone who works anywhere with a Disabled Accessible Toilet

So many places take the Emergency Pull Cord and tie it up so it doesn't dangle on the floor (usually to 'make it neat'). Often just tied up high, but also to railings, etc is not uncommon.

This completely negates the point of having an Emergency Cord in the first place!

They're that length so that anyone who falls (from a trip, seizure, heart attack, whatever), has the maximum chance of being able to reach it *quickly and easily* before blacking out/etc, regardless of that person's range of motion/vision & manual dexterity.

So, if your management gets you or any other staff to do this? Please let them know how dangerous it is to disabled people (it also fails most H&S codes to do this).

@pastelbat if I see em tired up I always untangle em.

If it’s a place I’m in frequently I’ll make the point of telling staff to stop doing it from now on.
