God Western music notation/terminology is a butt
Just.. Just throw it out and replace it with something where one word doesn't have a half-dozen different potential meanings
And half of them are old Italian words
And we've got some stuff left in from, uh *checks notes* ..Medieval church organs?
..Yeah, maybe get a feather duster in here
re: jokey offended, pooptoot
@StarshipAmelia To be fair, I think most of it's in Italian because it was invented/discovered in Italy, so I'm not sure it's stealing so much. :P
Just having it carry over to other langs because "that's the word for it" is.. Another needless barrier to learning imo?
Like, I've been doing this stuff on-and-off since I was 16 and *still* have to stop to remind myself every now and then that no, this is not all an elaborate prank

@pastelbat *a many-limbed alien wearing a badly drawn mozart, bach, and vivaldi mask on several tendrils jumps out from behind a cardboard cutout of a bush* Aha! We tricked you!!
And yea, I only did bits and pieces of music, but, there's a lot of Terminology to learn that I was no good at aha
jokey offended, pooptoot
@pastelbat Hey! Stealing words from tons of languages and acting like we've got a consistent system is western tradition!!!
