inner work, self hypno //
a problem I keep falling into: deciding that before I really get going, I should relax my body to the point of (at least subjective) immobility + get at least a moderately good autohypnotic trance going, which takes quite a bit of time. (Fortunately, I can make the induction & even the immobilization process itself involve a lot of innerworld features, so it still functions as reinforcement.)
and then something impossible to ignore comes up. conversation right by my head (unfortunately common with bed/apartment layout). I begin actually overheating under blankets; large stuffed animals trap a lot more body heat than you would expect. sweating to the point of drenching the above. dehydration, needing a drink to replace that lost water.
or just a really persistent itch. it happens.
and because I've tied the immobilization to the process, I can't break it, can't move at all, without also breaking the flow state, despite trying various tricks like "suggest my arm isn't being controlled by me". (In plain meditation I can do this to an extent -- just do whatever the physical action is without making a big deal about it mentally). and so I end up having spent like an hour per attempt without getting to main thing I wanted to address.
