re: self gripe
@variance Idk if it'd work the same for you, but this is why podcasts and audiobooks have become like 99% of my passive-media consumption
Watching/reading/etc stuff: Mm this is dull, wanna do something else
Crafting stuff: Mm this is dull, wanna do something else
(Took a while to learn it's better than "not at all" after art/animation/etc books lionizing hyperfocus-on-task as the one true valid creative state x.x)
re: self gripe
@pastelbat oh yeah, that’s the only way I manage to do anything repetitive, but the issue I guess is that lots of skills I want to learn don’t allow for multitasking like that
(I tried to read books while doing piano exercises as a kid but that didn’t work out v well and my teacher always complained at how I wasn’t focusing enough on how I was playing lol)
re: self gripe
@variance yeah I absolutely run into this and find it very restricting on "stuff I can do" vs "stuff I'd actually like to be doing" ><
re: self gripe
@pastelbat ugh yeah, I sympathize
re: self gripe
@variance (wow I managed to miss including my intended point by a mile, which was "I only find I can do repetitive stuff while listening to something else")
