So, my husband asked me - on behalf of others- to produce a list of “awesome” gift ideas for myself. Specifically things a group would go in on.

I have two possible groups this might be and I’m humbled if it’s one of them. This has become a challenge though.

Part of the challenge is that there are things I want to by myself once I have a better-paying job and they involve a lot of customization.

Another part of the challenge is that a day or two before he’d talked me out of acquiring an Apple Watch once I get a bonus in December for not using all of my flex time at work. (That I have flex time, vacation time, and floating holidays and they are treated differently by my employer is a story for another time)

I don’t have a budget to work with, so the list I’ve generated this far ranges from nice to outrageous. But one of the items on the outrageous end of things made me realize something.

What I really want right now may be physical, but it’s not material.

I want time with friends. Something like renting a cabin or AirBnB with people and watching movies and relaxing for a few days. And that’s not an option right now.

I’m a touch-friendly extrovert. Furry is great for me in that regard. But the pandemic means I don’t know when I’m getting that again.
