@yaodema yeah the prototype is dated essentially right after they split the game in half.

there was originally going to be a "Sonic 3 Limited Edition" which would end up as S3&K but I guess they wanted lock-on as a promotional novelty thing. it's not really expensive tech after all.

@flussence@nulled.red apparently the reason for the Hedgehog Day 1994 promotion was the tie in promotion with McDonald's and they had to have the cartridges in production by November to make the deadline. that prototype was weeks before the game was "done"
