people apparently treat here and twitter as if everyone's entitled to follow you and you just follow the ones you like, but thats not how it works if you want any semblance of useful people replying to you instead of agitating you

people following you who dont interest you and dont have reasons to follow you for insightful things you tweet, are consuming you and should be gone

especially the ones that randomly reply and are utterly useless, adding nothing, abrasive and oft yelly

@Nire can I boost some of the things in this thread?

@starkatt yeah i just keep it unlisted so it doesnt get into a free speech for me but no one else zone

@Nire boosting maintains the privacy setting of the OP i thought?

@starkatt thats what im saying, i dont mind RTs, i just care that its not on a timeline i have little control of initially

@starkatt the 0th hop is where its most likely to go wrong

@starkatt (because every step exposed to bad actors increases risk exponentially)

@starkatt so you can always RT things i make unless it explicitly says otherwise, i guess, is what im saying

@Nire basically you're saying you trust my follower curation enough for RTs to be okay generally?

@starkatt so risk is a lot less, is all. explaining why unlisted instead of public, since public would otherwise be signaling rts are fine :P. I'm overexplaining things because i am having weird brain things but yeah

@starkatt which, heh, goes back to my initial point and i didnt even realise it
