Okay, walking across a lake in The Long Dark and suddenly hearing creaking noises and seeing "WEAK ICE" flashing on the screen in red letters is one of the scariest things I've ever experienced in a videogame.

If you played Firewatch and said "y'know, I wish this game had more hiking", The Long Dark may be a game for you :)

Thing I lowkey appreciate about this game: your map is just a map, not a GPS. It's not even a very good map. You don't have a compass either. Getting disoriented or even lost is totally a thing that can happen.

@starkatt On the subject of game maps that are just maps, have you heard of Miasmata? You start with a blank map that you fill in by either finding map fragments in the world or by triangulating your position based on known landmarks.
