You know what I find really wonderful? Voice in writing.
It's so cool to me that our written language is expressive enough that each individual can have a distinctive sound irrespective of the actual content. It's cool to me that those voices are identifiable; I bet there's a number of you I could pick out of a lineup by text alone.
It's cool to me that every time I pick up a book, I need a few dozen pages to really feel out the rhythm of that particular writer.

This translates more easily in visual mediums for most people I think, but every artist creates art from their experiences, and thus puts some of themselves in their work-- and a trained eye/ear/sense can pick that up plain as day, and that's SUPER COOL. :D
@mawr oh gosh one of the funniest things is when a book reveals something deep and private about the author that they probably have no idea is being transmitted.
