possibly sex
@acetone_kitten Most exciting place you've had sex?

@grainloom Or, to ask a more useful question: what parts am I missing?
thoughts on "metaphor"
@grainloom Feelings can't be trusted, because feelings have nothing to do with how reality is. What matters is understanding the underlying systems, since anything more superficial is unreliable.
Now that you've learned that there are rules, it seems like following them is the only way to move forward. To win, you need to understand the invisible rules as well as possible, to act rationally on information other's aren't aware of.
Does this sound right?
thoughts on "metaphor"
@grainloom You realized that people *are* following rulesets, even if the rules are invisible to them. You realized that if you wanted to survive, you had to learn and internalize those rulesets, and try not to run afoul of them.
The same thing seems to apply to the world at large. Things feel aribtrary and unfair, but hey, those are the *rules*, and it can't be helped. The only winning move is to understand the rules as well as possible.

@grainloom I feel like I know this story. Let me know if this sounds right. If it doesn't, I apologize:
The world has always felt arbitrary and unfair to you. People are following rules that didn't make sense, guided by feelings that you can't easily understand.
When you tried to express your emotions, or acted in a way that didn't meet their invisible rules, you were censured. You learned that the safest thing was to not try and act on your own agency.
Actually, a question:
I'm pretty bad at differentiating/identifying pitch. How much is that a learnable skill? If I am innately not great at it, how much will that hold me back?
I think starting off by finding youtube playlists might actually be a pretty good approach? Let's see if I can find anything that works for me.
@Riley This looks like a good reference but is a bit dense/fast for me :<

@grainloom I will confess that I'm pretty annoyed you didn't even acknowledge the part where listening to subjective experience played an irreplaceable role in my life.

@grainloom Okay. Yeah, I don't think I'll be able to communicate any further than I already have.
Network Nostalgia. ♥️
@mawr That is an extremely impressive use of vocal cords.
@kit DS9 has a lot of good stuff but any time they get even a little bit disability-adjacent it gets so fucked up.
...actually that's kinda true of Trek in general tbh.
@DensetsuNoGomez I really ought to make an Expanding Brain meme about Fountain one of these days.
Current tabletop character:
A dread Lich who, after thousands of years of existence, discovered a way to power their phylactery with a vegetable oil derived ectoplasm they call "I can't believe it's not the souls of the innocent". This quickly resulted in boredom setting in, so they joined an improv group. Eventually one thing lead to another and they joined up with the Portland Superhero Society.
They are very dedicated to keeping their fights street level and the precept of "Yes and..."

@grainloom I guess to summarize: I think that feelings matter to people.

I'm a leftist trans gay fox girl. More than one thing can be true at a time. I believe in agency, subjectivity, and beauty.
