The giant oarfish is so long and slender that it might be responsible for sea serpent sightings: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_oarfish
Fun fact: another common name for the giant oarfish is "the King of Herrings". (I'm not making that up.)
Did you know: coelacanths are more closely related to mammals than to ray-finned fish (i.e. most of the fish species alive today)!
Coelacanths are members of Sarcopterygii, the lobe-finned fish; Sarcopterygii also contains all tetrapods, which includes mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Lobe-finned and ray-finned fish split long before some of the lobe-fins developed into tetrapods and began crawling onto land.

ELVIS TAXON
"In paleontology, an Elvis taxon (plural Elvis taxa) is a taxon that has been misidentified as having re-emerged in the fossil record after a period of presumed extinction, but is not actually a descendant of the original taxon, instead having developed a similar morphology by convergent evolution. This implies that the extinction of the original taxon is real..."
