@KawaSeadrake I super feel this. The only reason I've felt safe posting publicly is that Masto has felt small enough (and federation results in splintering enough) that it felt unlikely any given post would attract attention or dogpiling. I hope it stays that way.

Also, balance all of the above with no tolerance and no platform for nazis, bigots, and hateful people.

My goal for discourse on Mastodon:
Use 500char for nuance and compassion that is sorely lacking on birdsite. Create a culture where problems can be discussed without writing off people who disagree as clueless and irredeemable. Treat disagreement as a sidebar compared to our goals of building space and better worlds together, rather than the main event.

FWIW I think tension between creating safer spaces and not unfairly being persecutory or blackball-y is a *really hard problem* and polite discussion about it is important.

Honestly I think it's the *hardest* problem in our overlapping subcultures.

@forestservice I find it's good for a few specific circumstances? My uses cases have been having one desktop for work and one for personal on my work computer, doing a creative thing and social at the same time, or now on Windows opening games fullscreen on the second desktop.

I'm still a bit high and low-inhibition which is why I feel comfortable posting this publicly <_<
