@Vann@glitch.social Seattle actually made a law disallowing them recently, which is pretty cool.

'Cause yeah they're super bogus.

Natalie, further organizing

So at the memorial service for Natalie in Seattle today, we spun up a Discord server for further solidarity, memorialization, and organization, including potential legal action.

Here's the invite link. Any freind of hers is welcome.

The door handle on our oven fell right off and the door started falling apart while it was baking at 350f and I just fixed it in under five minutes while still hot.

mouning Natalie

I don't know if screenings of UFO pseudo-documentaries has ever been part of a funerary service before, but it has now and I'm really glad for it.

Today was healing. Thank you to everyone there for making it so.

collar question

so, whenever i end up replacing my collar (which died), i'm thinking about having it be a kind i can wear in the bath/shower and stuff, instead of leather maybe

i've seen a few kinds like that over the years, one a bit like a coated steel rope (like you might secure a bike with) and one was like a perfect stainless steel ring [which needed a special key to open it] :3

but i don't remember their names

and idk if there's cool new ones

pls tell me ones you like? (boostable if you wanna)

@aparrish The more I think about Mastodon, as a project, as a social network, the more I think it challenges the definition of success. Everyone, especially detractors, are quick to call it a failure or a nice try. While our daily activities here tend to show us the opposite. What is a successful social network that does not play the rules of close VC funded ones?

@LottieVixen@dev.glitch.social Aye! Not so much lately but I've done a fair bit.

i love how in DS9 it's established that, being able to do all this amazing "hook the x into the y" bullshit they do on TNG and voyager... is not some amazing coincidence, it's explicitly how the federation computers are designed

and cardassian computers DON'T let you do that, bc cardassian society and ethics are totalitarian

the federation computers trust the chief engineer or whoever to decide that it's worth the risk to do smth possibly unsafe if they're gonna.. explode anyway if they don't, or whatever

sex joke

Much Awoo About Muffing: a furry's guide to trans sex

Genders (or absence of gender) other than 'female' or 'male' don't have to be in-between female and male. They don't have to be in reference to that pair at all.

I am so sure that humanity's special power is going to be its pathological desire to make friends with EVERYTHING. We look at terrifying apex predators and coo affectionately and try to feed them. We literally subsumed an entire cousin species by fucking it.
