The sign feels like it's showing the way Home. That's exactly what I wanted to accomplish.

Also re: the rainbow sign project, I'm actually a bit proud of how this wiring harness came out.

Hm, sign isn't nearly as bright as I'd hope.
Looked back, and after adding the second stroke on the star I'm definitely running beyond the length rating on the driver. Good news is, I can buy a bigger one that's also supposed to be quieter.

Right now it glows, but it doesn't shine.

I still feel like I succeeded in my mission of "doesn't blatantly look like el wire" :D

Oh also right, this project literally came to me in a dream. Not exactly as implemented ofc, but the concept of an el wire rainbow in etched acrylic channels? Yeah!

An orange, two yellows, a teal, a blue, and a purple, sure that's a rainbow :D

colors aren't quite what I'd hoped (though much more vivid than this photo), but the intent is very clearly there so yay I'm callin' it good.

Also I'm glad I decided to double-stroke the star.

Weird bit of electrician (maybe trades generally?) slang, refrigerator:

A "fridge" is a thing you find food in.
A "reefer" is the appliance you need to dedicate a plug/circuit for.

@Ratttz hey this is a random question but on your job are refrigerators referred to as "reefers"?

Trying to get a handle on how widespread this slang is.

Oh also: yesterday morning they were debating whether a line from The Avengers was a direct homage to Dr Who and yeah here in 2018 it's a joke to think that any of that is "nerdy", when it's at that level of social saturation.

Though, if you listen to both shows carefully, it's clear that they're both carefully calibrated to never say anything that could *actually* offend someone enough to stop listening once you get past the general tone, even though The Men's Room is pretty edgelord.

The afternoon show "The Men's Room"... less so.

I call 'em shock jocks since I don't know a better term, but tbh the morning show hosts on KISW are reasonable people with non-awful politics? There's a bad take every once in a while but they actually do seem to lowkey want to make the world a better place with the show, even as they're loud and crass.
