charging bull / capitalism hot take
So I think that a big part of what makes Charging Bull so incredibly obnoxious as a symbol of modern capitalism is that purely as a sculpture, it's actually pretty dang good. The pose is evocative and it's full of life, and it's frustrating to see something that might otherwise be interesting repurposed into a symbol of greed and exploitation.
(There's a lot to be said for darkness, definitely, but humans tend to be pretty fond of light most of the time.)
I spent today banishing shadows, in a literal sort of way.
I'm spending this whole week installing lights in a parking garage. Seeing the space slowly get brighter and friendlier is *really* satisfying.
