There's a bit from Debt: the First 5000 Years where the author reflects we should try thinking about freedom not in terms of ability to trade and enter financial contract, but the opportunity to form deep social relationships of trust and mutuality.

I think about that a lot.

I'm starting to try and make an effort to not automatically cede as much space when guys do that.

I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with guys at clubs getting into my airspace. Like, okay, I get that it's crowded and yeah there's gonna be some amount of contact. But there's a pattern of specifically men carelessly pushing in while talking or dancing with a partner and I guess presuming that I'll move?

Last night one guy was pretty much pinning @acetone_kitten against the stage even after I went as far as verbally pointing out what he was doing.

Y'know what's good? Emoji in display names.

Ten minutes into Subnautica: "oh shit I can't go over there. There's Stalkers over there, and they have really big teeth!"

Ten hours into Subnautica: "Oh, the Stalker I just waltzed past noticed me! I guess someone wants to say hi. Hi Stalker!"

also, fuck the police.

me, whenever I reject a call from an unknown number: "But what if it's someone I know calling from jail and they need someone to bail them out?"

It's a weirdly specific anxiety.

Also, if you haven't seen The Iron Giant, I can't recommend it enough. It's a sweet, charming film about paranoia and xenophobia in 1950s America.

Me, a month later: "Oh shit she was totally right, silver is magical."

I miss working with silver. Really should re-do the wire wrap on that meteorite fragment necklace. Broke years ago and I didn't get around to fixing it.
