Actually, a question:
I'm pretty bad at differentiating/identifying pitch. How much is that a learnable skill? If I am innately not great at it, how much will that hold me back?
I think starting off by finding youtube playlists might actually be a pretty good approach? Let's see if I can find anything that works for me.
Current tabletop character:
A dread Lich who, after thousands of years of existence, discovered a way to power their phylactery with a vegetable oil derived ectoplasm they call "I can't believe it's not the souls of the innocent". This quickly resulted in boredom setting in, so they joined an improv group. Eventually one thing lead to another and they joined up with the Portland Superhero Society.
They are very dedicated to keeping their fights street level and the precept of "Yes and..."
The Dresden Files RPG is based on FATE, and social and physical stress are just two different damage tracks. Mechanically, they're treated almost identically.
Thing we realized about the #DresdenFilesRPG last night: it is 100% mechanically viable to play a character who doesn't fight, but instead just evades physical attacks and talks the enemy into giving up. It doesn't even require a specialized build. I think I termed it "The Undertale Strategy".
