I killed a website I've been "running" for 8 years today and I don't know how to feel about that.

i guess relief isn't a bad way to feel if it eventually became more of a burden than you wanted--but i know it's a bit more complex then that
@thingywott unfortunately the userbase was less made up of people who know webdev and more people who thought ugandan knuckles was the height of comedy
yeah, i noticed the general crowd once or twice :s
@sugar i mean, i can't really think of anything else you *could* have done
miiverse and geocities basically just opted to delete everything, and this seems to be the exact opposite
@thingywott yeah the conflicting feelings is that i just pulled a plug just like Miiverse or Geocities or Flickr or anything else and wondering if i could have done a shutdown better
But shit, I told everyone about it a year ago, published the source code, and offered to transfer the data and domain to anybody who wanted to run a successor site
