genocide

I started reading this history of indigenous peoples in my area yesterday and I couldn't make it thru the whole thing in one day since it's really dark so I'm continuing today.

if you live in the area around Seattle and the Salish Sea you should get acquainted with its history: oly-wa.us/EdibleForestGardens/

I found out that one of the nearby schools is named after someone instrumental to the internment and genocide and now it makes me sick when I go by it.

@technomancy canada has a lot of these particular skeletons in the closet too, and it was only much more recently that some of this history even came to light canadiangenocide.nativeweb.org

it's absolutely heartbreaking to know how few people seem to even know about it outside of the recent outcry against the literal remains that were found under indigenous schools

i'm glad we aren't honoring anyone involved in the more public incidents now, but there really is still so much left to be done
