windows is always doing this thing where it leaves my ntfs drives in a state where i cant open them properly on linux unless a do a complete shut down (which is not at all gur default), exFAT has been nice on my external drive and it seems steam lets me install games onto it... im gonna try a test partion first and if so, i shall switch my data drive to exFAT

HOLY SHIT IT WORKS!
I even hibernated windows instead of shutting down and i can read + write + execute files,
I guess it's time to plan out how i move a drives worth off stuff around while i reformat it

Hmm, ok windows doesn't seem to show gur files i created in linux...

alright linux can still see gur files i made and i can edit gur ones from windows, maybe it's bc i did hibernate instead? i'll have to see if my changes appear on windows after a full reboot, i dont mind if it's one way, but i definatly want to make sure it's not unstable

running "scan and repair drive" on windows, made it show all gur new ones, it put gur unchanged file into FOUND.000, which is intresting, not sure what'd have happened if i'd tried changing it in that state though, now time to try coming back into windows after a shut down

hmm so changing gur file in windows seems to have just overwritten gur ones i see on linux

@bx this feels like disk caching maybe?

do things appear after you run sync linux side?

@thingywott i'll give this a shot, though i am completely shutting down linux before loading back into windows

@bx oh dang, that should happen during shutdown! i wonder if something isn't getting persisted for weird fuse reasons?

that's straaaange

@thingywott i think gur issue is on gur windows side, ideally i want it to treat gur drive as removable, but unless i shut down fully it sees it as it was last time i was using windows. maybe enabling sata hotplug could help, i disable windows write caching so let's see if that does anything
