@kurtm @noracodes like, it's actually kinda heartbreaking how gatekeepy programming circles can be--where self-doubt can get to someone who does things that are so neat! but feels like an outsider still
i feel like a lot of the differentiation between "real vs not" programming languages are half done by gatekeepers to protect a self-worth they have from feeling like they are part of a "rare elite" that doesn't actually exist, and half done by the gatekept because of imposter syndrome, and the resistance they would face if they didn't second-guess themselves
