@codl oh! it's not super well known, but a lot of japanese character designs have some similarities~ (there's even other pokemon! like the lake trio!)
here's another example of the style https://nitter.se/Buke1128/status/1386376331378581505
aside from the head being as large as it is, the body shape is usually a short but round and tapered form that squishes into itself instead of bending

also, triangles aren't really always needed

@codl it's kind of a bad name, but TDM stands for a "teitoushin deformed mascot", where "teitoushin" (低等身) refers to the impossibly low head to body proportions in some mascot designs, and all the things that usually get combined with that stylistically
tamagotchi, the japanese olympic mascots, or other things like that are examples you might have seen~
i personally think they are adorable and wanted to learn to draw them
@thingywott 👀 should i look forward to seeing more of them from you?
@codl probably! actually, nearly all of my recently non-oshawott drawings i consider to be tdm sketches~
even though i don't ever really draw anything explicit, i did tag them with abdl, just in case, since they technically are that
buuut if that doesn't bug you (but marked sensitive in case it does!) here's a couple examples i'm pretty happy with so you don't need to trawl through my media if you were curious about what i mean
but basically, bnuy cute imho
@thingywott awe cute!!
@codl aww, thank you..!

@thingywott ooo thanks for the links
i am familiar with the style just from having seen some of these mascots around, i never knew that it had a name though!
