outer wilds is another one on the list of "games i really, really gotta get back to". i hear it's even really easy to jump back in after a long break, the reminders of what you knew are apparently quite effective at catching you back up
i just remember hitting a couple investigative dead ends at around the same time, my leads just went dry. and i got demoralized about it
outer wilds spoilers, not looking for hints thank you
i don't remember what one was but the other was that i finally got into the tower of quantum knowledge, which was a whole fucking deal. i spent fucking forever on it
and the thing is that the puzzle to get into the tower is EASY, it was the first thing i tried... and it just inexplicably didn't work the first handful of times i tried it. you have to wait for the right part of the planet to crumble and get in that way, but when i tried that, it fell way too late, i had a few seconds at most before the loop reset
so i started trying much harder and weirder stuff, and predictably got nowhere
then a couple days later i tried again and it just fucking worked, which really took the wind out of my sails
once i finally got in i read everything there and... i just kind of knew all of it already? it was built up like it was full of the most important knowledge about the quantum behaviour stuff, but none of it was new to me. finally it said "for more info, go check out the cool thing we built on the quantum moon"
so i went to the quantum moon, which took a few tries because you gotta be really careful to never look away, and... nothing. there's nothing there. couldn't find anything.
i didn't even give "figuring that puzzle out" a proper shot, i just turned the game off. i was so over it
i do really fucking need to go back though
