thought: nearly every mario game involves bowser kidnapping a beautiful woman, resulting in a (presumably politically charged) conflict in which mario (sometimes alongside an ensemble cast of other warriors) infiltrates bowser's turf to get her back
proposal: you could make a case for almost any mario game being the Super Mario Iliad
@typhlosion
*puts on pedant hat*
Technically, the Iliad is the tragedy of Achilles and Patroclus. Which would make for a much more interesting (and gay) storyline, but...
@ghost_bird your pedantry brings up an amusing side observation but ultimately distracts from the point of the joke in such a way that i worry about your general ability to derive pleasure from humor
@typhlosion My apologies, then.
@ghost_bird naaah you're good, i wasn't being seriously critical. i enjoy pedantic remarks on my jokes from time to time, since i often learn something from them
@ghost_bird (sincerely, i apologize for my utterly humorless response to your original comment)
@ghost_bird hardly spoiling - i tend to view those kinds of remarks as building on the original joke in a different direction. it runs counter to traditional comedy advice, but unless the intent is actually to ruin the joke, i don't mind
