computer science is the most relevant discipline in the modern humanities

"but kas, isn't computer science a stem field" we sure do treat it that way, don't we

hell, even in the other sciences you get at least a little bit of the history and current relevance of the field along with the sciencey stuff. but with comp sci, no, it's straight into the java, straight into the algorithms, straight into the networking protocols, with very little if any teaching about where the field comes from, let alone how it relates to the users of hardware and software

i've heard programming described as building castles in the sky out of pure thought-stuff. well, even the laputans visited the lands below from time to time

@wolfcoder well, no shit it depends on where you go. but the general mood of the field from what i've seen tends to have a much greater focus on technical skills than the humanities aspect

@typhlosion they could do with teaching more of their own history and contemporary ethics questions in the curriculum tbh.
