i never say this because i know people find them touching, but um
xkcd's idea of romance creeps me the fuck out
like, if randall munroe tried to woo me, i would feel unsafe
to me, there's this heavy air of like, "trying"
and it's like, i cannot actually believe this is coming from the heart and it's so intense that it's like "i really get the idea you're pretending, so why would you want someone to believe this is how hard you feel"
@heatherhorns tbf i think this is another example of something that's improved as xkcd matured? it kinda discarded a lot of the romance themes except for the occasional post about randall's actual wife being a cancer survivor
