im putting together a list (for my own shopping and for birthday/xmas wishlist purposes) of games i want for the consoles i have. it occurs to me that i dont actually know that much about the dreamcast's library - what dreamcast games should i look out for?
A ver nerdy list of recommended Dreamcast games
Driving
Hydro Thunder
RPGs
Grandia II
Shenmue II
Skies of Arcadia
Music
Rez
Samba de Amigo (requires the maraca set)
Platformer
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
Strategy
Worms Armageddon
Open World
Crazy Taxi
Sports
Cosmic Smash
Fishing
Sega Bass Fishing
Fighting (non-hardcore)
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Powerstone
Powerstone 2
Soulcalibur
I'm hesitant to recommend Jet Set Radio because the controls are quite frustrating, particularly with the sort of parkour the later game expects from you.
re: A ver nerdy list of recommended Dreamcast games
@Aradia oh hell yes thank you
@typhlosion gonna add cool cool toon to the rhythm game recommendations. It's Japan only, but works with DCX fine :3 (there is a quiz bit in it which may or may not require a guide to get through, but you only need to play it once ever.)
@bentosmile that reminds me, what's the cheapest easiest way to bypass the region locking? i have an ntsc-j copy of pier solar that i want to play. i'll probably look into getting it modded someday, to bypass region locking and to load off a hard drive, but in the meantime i dont have the money or space for something like that
@bentosmile i assume there's just something i need to burn onto a disc
@typhlosion ooh, I don't know these days. I use DCX, but back in the day it was only a few quid, and I've seen people over the past few years asking for way more than it's worth o_o;;
@typhlosion I remember the Sonic Adventure games being Cool as Hell on the Dreamcast; Seaman also, I remember that one being really really weird.
