if i wanted to put a piece of mtg art (e.g. floral spuzzem) on a t-shirt (e.g. captioned "shh, it's still choosing"), would i have to get permission from wizards of the coast or just from the artist (in this case rob alexander)?
@typhlosion I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice, but my guess would be: WOTC probably owns the copyright on the card art as work made for hire; if you're making a single shirt for yourself rather than for sale you'd probably get away with it; but if you want to be sure you can always commission the artist for a different but similar piece of art in the same style. In my experience MtG card artists are no different than other artists in that they love it when people give them money to make pretty things. And you could have something unique!
