saw a post on tumblr that was like "if you claim we should move on from x86 i will Kill You" and then i went to their profile and they were 16 years old like damn we let babies have opinions now

@typhlosion everyone's entitled to an opinion, including people who have an opinion on an opinion, and that opinion on this opinion is "nah"

@typhlosion wait so... Hold up
Do they even know what x86 architecture is?????
Like... "Move away from" in what context??? Depending on how you look at it we already have, like, no processor has been x86 itself since the like, 286 days?? I think?? Like everything past that is technically "x86 compatible" because it has the old x86 instructions in it, but they definitely AREN'T x86 chips.

@typhlosion its troubling that choldren can't differentiate jokes and because of this fall into purity culture and terfism

@typhlosion "move on from x86" kid, we did that before you were born

@typhlosion I've actually seen adults with this opinion as well ._.
the vibe i'm getting, re: subtoot, no one here
@typhlosion i used a raspberry pi once and i couldn't find a prebuilt package for something i wanted, thus x86 is the ideal architecture

@typhlosion Saw someone one time who said Ritchie was "problematic" for not building memory safety into C. I think they were also about 16.

i mean teenagers are allowed to have opinions obviously but like. if you post so confidently and aggressively about something and it's clear your perspective is just profound inexperience then i have no patience
