hey friends. im shopping for computer parts for the first time ever - just internal hard drives, but it's still something i don't know a whole bunch about
i'm looking for two internal SSDs, one (but not both) of which NVMe
is there anything i should keep in mind while shopping? any common hard drive pitfalls to be wary of? tips for not buying the wrong thing or screwing up the installation?
@ceralor i was looking at this one: https://www.amazon.com/LEVEN-JS600-Internal-Solid-State/dp/B08DTR8RGR because its a bit more affordable than some others listed, but if brands really matter that much maybe i shouldnt...
@typhlosion It's mostly from a reliability standpoint. There's some components where even smaller but well-known brands are a good bet, but amabrands (ie, brand only exists on Amazon and will change it's 5-8 letter name in a year) I don't for flash or RAM. The guarantee of new components just isn't there :<
If it helps as well, make sure they have a 3+ year warranty. Nearly any brand will for sure on SSDs because they use new components and controllers.
