do any of my fedi pals play trackmania (2020, or nations/united forever, or some other one)? i'm kinda just getting started and it would be fun to have funny car game friends to talk about it and share times/ghosts and tracks with and stuff
@shoofle rejoin us, shoofle... return to the fold......
@typhlosion I don't currently have an active sub to 2020 simply for financial reasons but
Hi TrackMania was the first real online community I ever actually opened up and engaged with, and two of my maps are literally in United Forever officially
@KS omg that's so cool.. maybe we can link up? im pretty sure at least TMUF has a friend system
@typhlosion I've been tempted before, but I always get confused by all the different version out there
@BatElite would you like me to give you a summary?
@BatElite (i had a whole thing typed out but i realized it would be better to ask rather than infodump unprompted lmao)
@typhlosion IDK if you still have that thing but feel free
I'm not very good at acting on recommendations but it might help ^^;
somewhat long post about the various trackmanias
@BatElite its not a problem!!
Nations Forever is the best entry point - it's free and the Stadium car physics are pretty similar across all the games where that car type exists
United Forever is, broadly, a paid upgraded version of Nations Forever with more content and more different car types/environments
Trackmania 2020 says it's free but really it's only free to try, you have almost no access unless you get a sub, which is annoying, but it's the most modern and polished version of the game
those are the most popular ones as far as im aware. theres a whole slate of TM2s but i dont know much about them
@typhlosion oo yeah i've been itching to get back into trackmania since losing my copy of sunrise. i'll give nations forever a shot
@typhlosion i played tarckmania nations but it was... sixteen years ago... (rapid aging sspecial effect goes here)
