@typhlosion funny u talk about that, i’m actually seeing the emoji movie tommorow on opening day. i’ll be taking notes in the theater in hopes of making a essay about it in the context of the debordian spectacle and corporate entertainment called “The Emoji Movie Is Decadent And Depraved”
also if u get what i’m referencing in the title u get a shoutout and a gold star 📢 ⭐️
@weirdoslam the emoji movie is not entertainment
@weirdoslam also nice hunter s thompson reference
@weirdoslam but seriously. you're gonna go in there surrounded by people all ready to take notes and you're gonna come out of there baffled and outraged that anyone considers that garbage entertainment, because it's not. it isn't entertainment. it's a thin, peeling veneer of the barest spectacle draped over a vapid series of advertisements and bullshit. it is not entertainment. if you wanna do your marxist thing do it on something that's actually entertaining.
@weirdoslam i think that's kind of pretentious and you're better served spending your time elsewhere and not even giving this consummate piece of garbage of a movie the attention, but that's just me
@typhlosion i will give u one piece of credit tho: parents aren’t taking their children and themselves to this film to be entertained. they goin and payin upwards of $10 a ticket to get their kid to shut the fuck up for 2 hours while parents get some 💤. this i think is a very spectaclist problem dealing with media outings and childcare in modern capitalism and (not the only, but) one of the major reasons why films like these with obv stupid ideas keep getting funded
