I cannot for the life of me find this furry webcomic that was on tumblr and it’s driving me mad.

It was about a bunch of high school kids. A polydactyl cat girl in love with a sad boy deer and a there was a gay sheep and lizard and a bird that did judo.

Plz help me.

A Kernel Of Failure: How IBM bet big on the microkernel being the next big thing in operating systems back in the ’90s—and spent billions with little to show for it.

The café was shut, if you didn't look too closely.

It was devoid of customers, staff and life, if you didn't look too closely.

It smelled strongly of boiling water, pastry and honey. If you glanced away, you would hear the clinking of porcelain, or hurried busy footsteps, or loud chewing.

It was a warm place, calming and comforting, where you would feel welcomed, or peaceful solitude, depending on what you needed most in the moment.

i just think it'd be lovely if it could be easier to share small pieces of code in a trustable way

both among users and among applications themselves! i could imagine some scenarios where it might behoove an app to programmatically tell another app "hey run this on the data i'm gonna send you", an operation which is incredibly dangerous at present but would be useful if it could be made safer

idk. there's a reason i didn't go into software security haha

like, in order to do it properly you'd have to also trust that untrusted mod code can't exploit the interface between the mod platform runtime and the rest of the game to do something unscrupulous, and ugh

but im not trying to build a secure kernel here, just tryin to offer a bit more peace of mind, i guess. but then why go to the trouble of formal verifidhwhcujdjejebfjsjuydhcnkr

i wonder if it'd be possible to have some kinda permissions based embeddable runtime for stuff like games to include as part of their modding platforms. ideally you'd formally verify it in some meaningful way so that games using the runtime can know that untrusted code from arbitrary mods the player downloaded won't be able to do anything unscrupulous, like store huge data or connect to the internet, without their express consent

im sure there's problems with this idea tho lmao

The demon appeared in the circle.
"Tell me," a voice said, "the price of a soul."
"It depends," the demon said, "on the weight of your sins."
"I would not sell, I would buy."
"Ah! How innocent would you want?"
"Unused."
"We can't supply that."
"Shame," Siri said, and banished it.

ABSTRACT: the "drake frowning with hand up"/"drake smiling and pointing" images have been used to great effect as an approval/disapproval meme format. however, it cannot express ambivalence or a progression between the two reactions. in this paper, i argue for the importance of ambivalence signifiers in approval/disapproval meme formats. in support of this stance, i use GAN technology to create a matching image of drake in the 🤔 "thinking emoji" pose and demonstrate its improvement of the meme.

so this month just got worse. after missing work from illness and snow, i am out MY ENTIRE CAR because the motor failed last night

it's not worth replacing (too expensive), so i have to rely on family members and the transit system until we work out a solution

as more diverse activitypub software comes into existence, there may come to be more and more cases of instances implementing features that aren't supported on other instances or that aren't expected by generic clients. for instance, awoo.space supports unlimited post length when the post has a CW on it; this works in the client but doesn't (and, as far as i know, can't) work in the Tusky mobile client

i wonder if there's some way around this in general
