machine learning systems are susceptible to the implicit biases of the data they are fed

so do other learning systems, like humans. you are not immune to the environment you were raised in

that's literally all "check your privilege" means. become aware of the biases of your dataset and seek to overcome them

having a sci-fi setting and not having your universal translator device be a sentient AI not only doesn't make sense if you know how language works, it's also a huge missed opportunity from a writing perspective

will it be good? i dunno. probably not
