someone should write a dissertation on the subtle connotative differences between the classic ellipsis... and the version with commas,,,
@noiob get your autocorrect unicode typesetting bullshit outta heeeeere
@typhlosion what the heck are you talking about, I typed that with my own hands
@noiob @typhlosion ,,,
@noiob @typhlosion ah yes U+2026 CHARACTER LIMIT FIGHTER
@thingywott @typhlosion I swear to god look at ... versus … and tell me the single-char ellipsis isn't far superior (and in many fonts it also looks better)
@noiob i mean, you're not wrong
@noiob @thingywott i didn't type . . ., i typed ...
@typhlosion holy heck yes
i personally use commas to sorta kinda indicate a non-falling tone but it's vague, partially because i rarely ever use dots so idk what the difference is
maybe dots for trailing off and commas for "i don't wanna do iiiiiit~" type of thing
@typhlosion imo “,,,” gives a more befuddled, confused, and overwhelmed impression whereas “...” seems more composed and uh
did i reach the dissertation’s required word count yet
@typhlosion Okay, fine, but we don't feel like pulling out our LaTeX tooling for it, will markdown do?
@violet do i look like a university,,,,, write it in html for all i care
@typhlosion and the correct version, …
