@vahnj OMG I could totally hear the hard drive churning in my head

@mawr ME TOO
@vahnj I really miss the sounds of old computers a lot.
Hard drive spin-up and read/write (and if they're _really_ old, initialization and calibration), floppy drives checking for disks during the boot sequence, CD drives spinning up discs...
Everything is so quiet now
@mawr me too. i used to have one of those flat computers on the floor and i'd put my feet on it cuz it felt good. i don't remember what it was but it had a turbo button!!!!!
@vahnj Probably a 486 of some variety if it had a turbo button. ^^
My first computer was a Mac SE/30 which was rad AF for a first computer. I could talk for hours about how that computer practically saved my life and is responsible for my career today
I just found the best video for nostalgia on that note >..> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC10s2C7Pn4
All the old macs had Quantum drives and they all had this beautiful and distinct init sequence ♥️
@vahnj any time i move my mouse this one restarts though???
@Xkeeper wha
weird
@vahnj it's a joke :c
the windows 98-era disk defragmenter was notorious for restarting its defragmentation process if you did literally anything
i am too old
@Xkeeper I don't even remember that and i've been addicted to computers forever
