@vahnj I think the problem is that they didn't give Penelo much of a reason to even be there. In what little we get to see of her actual personality she seems smart and confident and has way more of a clue as to what's going on than Vaan.

I might also be projecting from Final Fantasy Tactics A2, which is basically the continuation of the Vaan/Penelo storyline.

@Ghost Yea, I think that's very fair to say- not that she has no personality, just 0 air time to really.... be a part of the story.

@Ghost Also, FFTA2 has Vaan/Penelo in it????? I know they have their own side game but I didn't realize they were in that, I might have to play it now

@vahnj They are, although, you have to play like 80+ hours to get the whole thing. They basically sprinkle it in over the course of the game's "year" and you get the rest of the story after you beat the game and they join your party.

@Ghost i know there's also a side game that feature vaan and penelo in it... FF12 Revenant Wings I think it's called?

@Ghost I loved the shit out of FFTA, I should really beat FFT, and I should at least play FFTA2 (I bought it for $5 from someone a long time ago)

@vahnj Most people think FFTA2 is the better game, although I actually preferred FFTA slightly. Both great, though!

@witchfynder_finder yeaaa it works way better with the remake- having access to 2x or 4x play speed makes the game way more tolerable to grind through

@vahnj Yeah, I heard they added those time controls and I think that's really cool!

@witchfynder_finder the job system also works really well! you can do some cool stuff with it

@vahnj mhm I definitely remember that from back in the day, but I never had the patience to really figure out how it all worked for some reason.
