yea there's not a real reason you need to know it super deeply, there's plenty of other ways to build database things without knowing sql (see: mastodon)

well, I mean -- some people WORK from home, or have servers at their house that do stuff and knowing how to do actual SQL is useful for them
but for most people it's like
if you don't know why you'd be using SQL at home, you basically aren't going to be the person who needs to
(I mean, I'm trying to build stupidly complicated robots and shit, I've been arguing about features of different SQL implementations internally, but most people aren't)
