@richardgoodness np! think of each instance being like a server for twitter- each of the servers talk between one another, some don't like each other and block each other on a server basis, and so on.
Mostly you can use it just like Twitter, except no ads, a linear timeline, better harassment tools, and you can find communities that actually focus on dealing with harassment/abuse/shitty people (unlike Twitter)
